The recovered (symptom free) inmates are given training in different schemes of self-employment for a respectable living. This helps them to overcome the monotony in life and to increase their self-esteem. It is aimed at helping the mentally ill to improve their social skills and work habits and to enable them to become productive members and earn their livelihood. It also creates awareness among the public to eliminate the stigma attached to mental illness and to accept them as a respectable fellow-beings.
The inmates today get engaged with several activities like paper plate making, candle making, cotton waste making, soap making etc. Some of them get involved with fish farming and grazing cows and goats whereas some other help in cooking various meals for the inmates.
The products prepared are used up in the Centre or sold through well wishers and voluntary associations.
